The landscape of the area is characterized by its subtropical fruit crops. We will visit mango, custard apple and avocado plantations, arranged in wide terraces (terraces); It is also possible to observe, to a lesser extent, specimens of some other unusual fruit species, such as banana, medlar, persimmon or citrus trees.

The “Watchtower” (Watchtower) of the Caleta was built from the 16th century, and is located in a very rugged mountain area, and of great natural beauty, a few meters from a cliff area. We will follow a path from where we can at many points contemplate the wonderful views over the coastline of this beautiful natural setting.

On this hill we find the ruins of the fortress of the castillejos, with a height of 932 m and a distance from the coast of about 7 kilometers, in the middle of the interprovincial divide, it is a privileged place from the military point of view. Being a strategic control point between the bay of the horseshoe and the passage to the interior crossing the Sierra de Almijara, housing the grandson of the Caliph of Damascus Abderraman I after his landing, in the horseshoe in 755.
